Associate Attorney
Yara Slaton brings to RED Law a distinctive combination of corporate law experience, public interest leadership, and community-centered advocacy.
Before joining RED Law, Yara practiced corporate law with Perkins Coie LLP, where she represented both startups and venture capital investors in financing transactions, company formations, and strategic mergers and acquisitions. She has advised C-suite leadership on a range of corporate matters and has developed a reputation for thoughtful counsel, strong client relationships, and meticulous attention to detail.
Before entering private practice, Yara spent several years working in nonprofit leadership and operations with the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence, where she advanced initiatives supporting refugee, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and rural communities.
Yara’s commitment to advocacy and service has remained central throughout her career. While attending UC Berkeley School of Law, she dedicated more than 270 hours to pro bono legal work focused on mitigating harms caused by the criminal punishment system and expanding access to justice for low-income communities. Her work earned Pro Bono Honors with Highest Distinction and the Public Interest and Social Justice Certificate. She also served as Co-President of the Student Association at Berkeley Law and was selected as a Human Rights Center Scholar.
A first-generation immigrant from Egypt, Yara is fluent in Egyptian Arabic and deeply values the role of community, accessibility, and inclusive advocacy in the legal profession. She earned her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law and her B.B.A., summa cum laude, in International Business from Boise State University. Yara is also a U.S. Army veteran and a recipient of the U.S. Department of State’s Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Fellowship.
Outside of her legal work, Yara enjoys spending time with her daughter and firmly believes there is no such thing as too much chocolate.
